Abstract
With an abundance of information sources available, families are learning in novel ways. To understand how family-based collaborative learning moments emerge in everyday life we collected and analyzed caregiver narratives of a recent knowledge-building occasion. Learning stories were analyzed to understand their origins, affective qualities, technologies used, and forms of joint media engagement. We find digital tools are leveraged to address immediate needs for information and problem-solving as well as support established interests, connections, and bonding.
